Elke les moet de professor me er weer even aan herinneren... "We have only three weeks of school left... isn't that amazing, a little scary? This semester just passed by so quickly..." Jajajaja, ik weet het wel. Na zo'n uitspraak kan ik me ook niet meer goed concentreren.. Ik begin te denken aan wat ik nog ga doen, wat ik al heb gedaan en hoe snel de sneeuw dichterbij komt.
Het vriespunt is al bereikt.. al ruim een week denk ik. De thermometer komt niet meer boven de 10C uit en 's nachts wordt het al onder 0C. De eerste sneeuwvlokjes zijn al gevallen en de voorspelling voor de komende twee dagen belooft nog meer sneeuw.
Ik vind het leuk... zie ik tenminste nog een keer sneeuw dit jaar... wat ik in Nederland hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet te zien zal krijgen.
De laatste eindprojecten moeten ook al bijna ingeleverd worden. Ben beetje druk daarmee bezig, maar huiswerk wordt minder belangrijk. Gisteren vergat ik zelfs mijn boeken mee naar de les te nemen... hoe dom?!
Mijn les begint over 10 minuten... ga nog snel thee zetten, tanden poetsen en dan rennen door de kou naar de les.
Ik weet niet of ik in deze laatste weken nog een blog post... kom af en toe langs en misschien verras ik je. Maar ik beloof niets... heb het te druk met andere dingen... en nee, niet huiswerk :p

New Paltz field hockey falls to Ramapo 5-2 on senior day

NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team fell to visiting Ramapo 5-2, Saturday afternoon on the Turf Field. The Hawks acknowledged four seniors and a foreign exchange student before their last game played in a Hawks uniform.
Jillian Cafarchio (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville), Marissa Costello (Brick, NJ, Brick Township), Meghan Flynn (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) and Heather McCoy (Sayville, NY/Connetquot) played their last game in a Hawks uniform. Foreign exchange student, Emmi van den Boom (Utrecht, Netherlands/Eerste Christelijke) played her last game for the Hawks as well.
The Hawks had the chance to strike first when Sarah Schloss (Brant Lake, NY/North Warren) shot was blocked and covered up by the Roadrunners goalkeeper. On the play, a penalty stroke was giving to the Hawks. Ann Marie Rudd (Garden City, NY/New Hyde Park Memorial) penalty stroke was stopped by the diving Ramapo goalkeeper.
Ramapo struck first in the 31st minute, when Amanda Mavrakes shot was deflected in by Kim Raimondi for the 1-0 lead.
The Hawks came right back, scoring 19 seconds later when Jessi Moore (Walden, NY/Pine Bush) found Lauren Nicomini (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) for her fourth goal of the season, on the left side of the cage for a goal. The contest was tied 1-1 at the half.
In the second half, Ramapo regained the lead in the 38th minute, when Ashley Zimmerman passed to Mackenzie Cahill at the top of the circle for the goal.
In the 43rd minute, Zimmerman found Sara Weimer on the right side of the cage for the goal and the 3-1 advantage.
New Paltz pulled within one off a corner by senior defender McCoy who found Moore at the top of the circle. Moore deked a defender and took a shot to find the back of cage.
Ramapo’s Weimer put the Roadrunners back up by two, when she put the ball into the back of the cage off a rebound from outside the circle.
Ramapo added their fifth goal with three seconds left in the game when Mavrakes found Raimondi for the goal.
Elizabeth Tong (Woodstock, NY/Onteora Central) allowed three goals in 45:50 minutes of play and tallied three saves. Elizabeth Dini (Sayville, NY/Sayville) allowed two goals in 24:10 minutes of play and tallied one save. The Hawks conclude the season with a 3-13 overall record and 0-6 in SUNYAC competition.
Meg Tierney tallied four saves for the Roadrunners and Ramapo improves to 7-9 overall and 1-3 in the Skyline.
